Merry, Merry Christmas!

I really had better go and do Christmas for my family! And practice to accompany and perform special musical numbers! And mail gifts, etc.  And bake cookies with my daughter. My time has run out!  So I'm going to take just a little time away from the blog. But in the meantime...

I've been pondering another question sent to my e-mail. What can we do about those ten-year old boys! You know the ones who roll their eyes and don't like to participate. Why is that? I know if we could figure it out we would all be rich, rich, rich. And famous! Why don't you all think about it too and we'll tackle it after Christmas. I also have a post planned about how I try to organize all the stuff and clutter that comes with being the Primary chorister. Don't you wish someone would design a great system for that?!?  I hope you all have a very merry Christmas!

  2. I recently was called as primary chorister and your blog has had the most helpful, really inspirational things to do! Thanks so much. I really would love tips for those 10 year old boys. I have a slew of them!

  3. Our boys are ahhhh-maze-ing and it's all because of their teacher. He's been the teacher for almost six years now, and I dread the day he is no longer their teacher. Even the most difficult of boys do so well under his tutelage! He makes them sit up tall during sharing and singing time, he rewards them for bringing their scriptures, he makes them watch as they are coming in and helps them notice if we need any help with chairs or set up, and most wonderfully, he MAKES them sing!! And the funniest thing of all is that the boys just love him! My son is currently in his class and he adores Brother Ireland. The boys are so good now, that we actually pulled our girl teachers aside to give them some suggestions, and they've improved greatly as well. It's all in the teachers!! They can do incredible things with those old kiddos!!

  4. All the children in our Primary like to be challenged. I find different arrangements for at least one of the songs we practice for the program. I try to find arrangements that have simple alto parts. They love it! Even the older boys :) Those are their favorite songs and they want to sing them over and over again.
