Wrapping Up?

Well, the time has come to begin wrapping things up with this blog. I think I have posted all but a couple of singing time activities on my master list and I'm not sure where to take the blog now. My objective, in the beginning, was simply to post my ideas and then leave them as a resource for my daughter(s). But, now that that goal is met, I find that I'm reluctant to leave such a wonderful community as you all are. However, my life is very full, and I have other paths to pursue. I've gone back and forth with this.

I know there are some gaps here, especially with ideas for holidays and other occasions (although there are LOTS of ideas for pioneers). I'll try to continue to post occasionally, to fill in some of those blanks, but it will not be weekly. If any of you have any questions, I would be happy to explain what I do or how I might address it. Please just send me an email or leave a comment.

Meanwhile, I think I will take just a little blog break and try to figure out how to organize so that I can best leave things here as a resource. My husband tells me that what I really need is a static web page, but I don't know how to do that. If you are not a follower at this time, you might consider it now, so that you don't have to keep checking to see if I've posted something.

I've surely loved hearing your comments and even becoming acquainted with some of you. I will certainly miss that interaction. Just know that I'm sending much love and good thoughts to all.

I have thoroughly enjoyed your blog! You have made my calling easier as I balance a busy life, yet want to do my best in this wonderful calling. Thank you for all the time and effort you've put into this blog. I hope we can still turn to it as a resource. One suggestion: if you add the new gadget through blogger that says "follow by email", it might make it easier for us to signup in case you do update every so often.
Again, thank you!
Lisa

Thank you, Lisa! I'm so glad to have been even a little bit helpful. I added the new gadget immediately. Thanks for the suggestion.

I just have to take a moment and thank you for all your great posts and ideas. I will always refer others to this site as well, I find it refreshing to know that over the years I can build up many ideas, and then just rotate through them. Your ideas are simple to create, easy to store, fun, help the children THINK and FEEL and are usable with almost any primary song. I love that versatility, instead of many ideas out there that are made for just one song. This has truly been a great blessing to find your blog. I also love your philospohy about Primary music time. Thank you so much for taking lots of your time and sharing your talents. I plan on continuing to use this resource while I'm doing music. THANKS!!

I just want to say a big thank you to you for all your ideas and thoughts! I have been primary chorister since Feb. I can't read music and couldn't lead at all but am learning! Your blog was one of the first I found and although I don't know you personally I felt like I found a friend and a mentor when I stumbled onto your blog. It has been a big help to me and your ideas and philosophy have helped and comforted me immensely. I was and still am overwhelmed by this calling yet I love it and want so much to do a good job. So anyway just thank you for all the time and effort you've put in to doing this, it has been a big help and I plan to continue to refer to it as long as it's available!

Thank you so much for your blog. It is one of my favorite resources. I hope it does not go away! My favorite post was when you shared with us how you prepare to teach a song. It has helped me to be able to incorporate the spirit into my singing time. Thanks so much!

Having only had this calling for nearly 7 months now, I feel like I could not have fulfilled it w/out you or this blog. You have taught me so much about relying on the spirit and what the church has to offer, especially from the Friend. Nearly every week I have used an idea from you. I will surely miss your posts. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.

I too echo everyone else's sentiments. Your blog has been an invaluable help for me as I've learned how to teach singing time. I've had this calling for a year now and I believe I stumbled on your blog a month or two into the calling. I have probably used one of your ideas, or adapted one, almost every week. I love your approach to singing time, with your emphasis on seeking the Spirit and teaching the meaning of the songs. I love too, as I think someone else mentioned, that your ideas can be easily adapted for almost any song and any theme. I also really like that many of your "choose and review" ideas can be adapted to fit with the monthly theme. I really like continuing the theme through music time, even when we're singing many different songs.Thank you so much for sharing your resources and ideas. I hope this blog stays available for a long time!

I understand that all good things must come to an end, but still, I'm so disappointed! I'm hoping that you'll update once in a while just for old time's sake. This blog has helped me SO much. Thanks for everything.

I have just moved {so of course I had to be released as chorister }, but I left your blog as a recommended resource for the next chorister. I found I consistently returned to your blog for ideas. I love how you use ideas from The Friend and how your methods so closely match the handbook. Thank you so much for your time and effort in organizing this amazing resource!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have loved this blog (although I've never commented - I'm horrible at that) and will continue to use it for a long time to come! What an invaluable resource for all of us. Good luck to you in your future endeavors!

I just have to add my thanks for all the time and effort you have put into this blog. Your ideas helped me as well. I recently got released as chorister, but if (when) I get this calling again, I'm sure I'll be referencing your wonderful ideas once again.

Thank you thank you for your wonderful ideas. You make my job so much easier. Have you thought about writing all of this into a book? I'd buy it!

Kathleen said...

I surely do appreciate all of your kind comments! Thank you.

P3, thanks for your confidence, but a book is probably not forthcoming. ;o) This blog is what you get instead, but at least it is free! Enjoy

I was searching online this morning for ideas for August's "My Body is a Temple," all the while thinking that you said you wouldn't be adding posts to this blog. I was surprised and very relieved to find that you created a wonderful plan for "My Body is a Temple" back in 2010!

As it turns out, I will miss reaading updated posts, but your blog is still a great resource, just like you'd planned! Thanks again, Sister Mower.
